What It's All About
Dan's
Paint and Body is not your typical body shop. There is no grease; no
clutter; no intimidation. Upon entry of the newly remodeled 60,000
square ft facility it is pleasantly obvious that you are in a business
environment, dealing with an ever friendly staff that truly cares about
their customer.
Where It All Began
1973 was quite a year. The World Trade Center was completed in New York
City and in Tucson AZ Dan Hunsaker established his own, much smaller,
center of trade. Dan's paint and Body opened November 13th in a 1200 sq
ft facility. You would never know looking at the corporation that stands
before you that at one time this was a two man show, and remained so for
several years. The operation expanded slowly but surely and after
several small location moves, Dan's Paint and Body found its way to its
present location on 22nd and
Alvernon in 1984. The facility was quite a bit different 20 years ago,
ranging approximately 4,000 sq ft and sharing an office front with other
businesses. As Dan's continued to grow in the marketplace new employees
were occasionally added and in 1995 Dan found the need to expand his
existing facility an additional 16,000 sq ft. The late 1990's provided a
solid platform for Dan's paint and Body's growth. They began to
facilitate some DRP relationships and increase their hold in the very
loyal Tucson market through word of mouth and referral driven work. In
2003 Dan's had grown above and beyond that of the smaller mom and pop
shop they once were, and they proceeded once again with a sizable
expansion on the same property.
Where
We're Going Now
Now for over 30 years Dan's Paint and Body, still locally owned and
operated, has provided quality repairs for over 40,000 satisfied
customers in Tucson. Their 60,000 square foot facility has provided not
only gorgeous office space, but a cutting edge facility that allows
ample room for Dan's unique assembly line process of repairing vehicles.
The technicians utilize three standard frame benches, as well as one
BREWCO frame bench with an all Hydraulic clamping system. Measuring both
Unibody and full framed vehicles is made easy and accurate with two
mobile SHARK laser guided measurement systems. The refinish department
is equipped with a custom designed air filtration system, and two GARMAT
drive through downdraft booths used along with BASF materials.
It is a unique facility to say the least. The technicians also benefit
from Dan's unique approach to "Blueprinting" vehicles by the means of an
initial teardown, assessment of all related damages, and supplement
handling prior to the vehicle ever going to a technician. "Assessing the
damages up front in a triage format allows us to average at least one to
two days less per job by eliminating any unforeseen holdups" says Rob
Martin, Director of Operation at Dan's. That is the goal at Dan's paint
and Body; To provide the customer with the most exceptional, pleasant,
and quality experience possible.

Each customer is assigned to an individual Repair Process Manager (RPM)
and that individual is the sole contact throughout the repair. Go ahead
and call them, you will never get a voice mailbox. In fact there is no
such thing at Dan's. "Every customer deserves to speak to someone
directly" says General Manager Joe Dexter, "We have always provided our
customers with that extra personal touch that is lost in so many
businesses." That personal touch and passion for what the employees at
Dan's do on a daily basis is driven by the ability for every individual
to provide input on how the daily operations are run. It is clear that
employees' roles and opinions are very important to Dan and the staff is
much more than just co-workers; some are immediate family, some have
been employed by Dan for over 20 years, but clearly all are "family".
This once two man operation has become a corporation boasting 30 of the
area's finest employees; a corporation that has achieved growth on a
yearly basis; a corporation that has reached sales of just under 4
million dollars in 2004; But most importantly a corporation that has not
lost sight of it's mom and pop roots and devotion to exceeding their
customers expectations. After 30 years serving Tucson with the finest
craftsmanship, service, and reputation, there is a reason that Dan's
Paint and Body sees no end in sight to their growth and hold on the
marketplace.
